Never namedrop/RT praise, but   Leave a comment

Big up my celebrity pal Lexus Taylor for raising Um awareness here in Cambridge, where in a sense it is needest most lol. This clip is a bit historical mind, according to it’s source, Bad Timing Nights: “The event hasn’t left much trace online, but my best guess is that this was in support of Four Tet @GreenMind, which would make it 23rd Oct 2005. “

Who’s that fuzzy-faced youth at the front though? He looks familiar…

More recently Mr T was good enough to add to the biomythology again though, and hopefully make a few Uni alumni wished they’d turned right on Chesterton Road just once ha ha.

The Home Comfort Sound System is built to MV & EE’s spec by sound engineer Tall of Suffolk’s Ambush Cinema and combines with combines with projections to reconfigure and retune each space with specially dreamt up environments channelling MV & EE’s homespun aesthetic. Also, watch this:

Cheeky beardist turns up in the morning wanting my DV camera and then in the afternoon I get this linkage! Confounded Doozers!

Oh yeah, never met DJ Rarebit but I heard a comp he did for Simon the other night and the mix was deep yo.

Mind you, the other day I was buying booze in the co-op and the checkout girl was Deep too, it said so on her name tag.

But please come to this, if you can.

Even Spacemen Hate Mondays   1 comment

More great music and drawings/animations from Rob Kemp!

Talking of spacemen and the cold-water shock of the week’s unpopular first seventh, Our Phil is playing with pals from The Doozer as Rock With Electronics tonight at Bad Timing tonight. I don’t think I can make it, so you’d better.

Local performance for yer Doozers and fleet-fingered fifth-Beatle type C Joynes of Histon, conjured up in order for a kicking off of a small-but-worryingly-sexy tour of North Europe! Say hoi to our pals at The Swedish Embassy etc. Here’s the official blarb:

Dearest Friends and Acquaintances,

You may have seen and heard right as THE DOOZER will be hitting a town, hopefully close to you, in the next couple of weeks. That’s right, we’re touring in support of KEEP IT TOGETHER, that record recently released by WOODSIST. Here’s our itinerary:

MARCH
19 – Romsey Labour Club, Cambridge (w/ C Joynes)
20 – The Drop, London
21 – Espace en Cours, Paris
22 – Hectoliter Galerie, Brussels
23 – OCCII, Amsterdam
24 – Maakhaven, Den Haag (w/ Man From Uranus)
26 – Fox & Newt, Leeds (w/ Herb Diamante & Mick Flower)
27 – The Banshee Labyrinth, Edinburgh
28 – Night & Day, Manchester

First outing as a three piece, or TRIOZER if you will, with CB Radio on drums and Ben K on bass as per earlier DUOZER adventures. Bringing the sound of the colloquial to the sophisticates of various urban dwellings.

Come to shows! And please, Cambridge folks, attend the HOMEGROWN affair at the ROMSEY LABOUR CLUB on 19 MARCH with that gent C JOYNES also appearing. It’s DIY style and will be a fine and friendly atmosphere in this most auspicious of venues. WATCH OUT, LUNAR’S ABOUT!

On the MERCH STALL we’ll have the usual, plus KEEP IT TOGETHER LPs & BRAND NEW T-SHIRTS. GOLD, you say?

Join the force and be at one with yourself.

Room 6   Leave a comment

Went round my old house the other night to visit Phil in my old room. First time since I moved out in April last year, and I was there for 15 years, so even things like opening the door onto the landing started fucking with the neural pathways after a couple of drinks. Adding to the trippiness, the spaceman, ever the astronaut of the internet and auteur of the YouTube derive in particular, hit me with the following couple of vidz:

Maybe I should try and persuade Meeuw to let me do a cover of that Tim tune for his label. That’d have a certain conceptual continuity.

I was just getting settled in for the night when Phil told me that when he’d said he couldn’t get too mashup cos he had work at 10 he actually meant PM like RIGHT NOW TAKE YOUR STRONGBOW WITH YOU DICKHEAD. He did tell me a funny story though which I’m hoping to squeeze into pure elxir of jokes grist for this Gagarin record that’s causing us all so much English trouble. I saw a real copy of the Doozer record too!
